Government lifts restrictions on Churches, effective August 1st 2020


President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated in his fourteenth address to the nation on measures taken by government to help combat Covid-19 that, restrictions on the operation of the Churches has been lifted.

The said relief which includes an increase in the number of worship hours from one to two hours as well as the lifting of restrictions on the number congregants per service will take effect from the first of August, 2020.

The president justified this decision by expressing his satisfaction in how the various church leaders have strictly adhered to the required precautionary measures to help prevent the spread of the virus since they have been allowed to partially operate.

He has however urged the religious leaders to continue observing safety protocols by ensuring that, the congregants wear face-masks at all times and respect the one meter social distancing rule; He equally suggested that, they pay attention to fresh-air ventilation rather than the use of air conditioners.
