Chief Editor for Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has expressed his commiserations to the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, over the Sputnik V vaccines brouhaha.
Speaking on Metro Tv’s “Good morning Ghana show” on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, Mr. kwesi Pratt asked Ghanaians to pray for Kwaku Agyeman Manu.
According to the legendary Editor, the Health Minister should not be solely blamed for purchasing covid 19 vaccines at such a high price.
This comes after Ghanaians on social media lashed the Minister for draining the public purse, all in the name of purchasing vaccines. The Minister in a video circulating on social media, captured him saying, “he was not thinking properly when he signed the Sputnik V vaccines contract due to pressure.”
However, Kwesi Pratt pointed out that, the deal to procure covid 19 vaccines also went through the Finance Ministry.
Also, Kwaku Agyeman Manu also mentioned that, he asked the Attorney General for advice before going through with the deal. Kwesi Pratt used the platform to admonish Ghanaians from pushing all the blame on him(the Minister).
The Editor In Chief added that, “as at now all the blames have been pushed towards the Health Minister, and people are also calling for his resignation.”
Kwesi Pratt Jnr concluded by expressing how sorry he felt for the Minister, he also pleaded with Ghanaians to pray for the Health Minister.
This comes after Minister of health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu has disclosed that, he was not thinking well before entering the Sputnik v contract.
Speaking to the committee set up to probe the government’s contract to purchase Sputnik V vaccines on Monday, July 19, 2021, Kwaku Agyeman Manu admitted that he did not do due diligence before entering the contract.
